Candlebark Reserve Circuit

Meet at Eltham Lower Park (Mel 21 H10) at 0930 for a 0945 start.  Park near the new facilities block).

The walk will proceed along the Diamond Creek to the junction of with the Yarra River, then follow the Yarra to the footbridge which we will cross into the Candlebark reserve and take a left to follow the boardwalk on the Main Yarra track towards Petty’s Orchard.

After a brief stop at the Tikalara lookout (opposite Sweeney’s Flats) we will take a sharp left over the Mullum Mullum Creek, to take a well-worn track upstream along the Yarra (avoiding the paddock in which there may have grazing bulls).  When we come to the power lines that cross the river from Reynolds Road we will climb the hill near them until we reach The Ridge,  Then we walk down the former Templestowe Hill climb into the Domain Wetlands and into Sanctuary Place to begin our return. About 7.8 km.
