Badger Weir - Healesville
Walk commences from Healesville Sanctuary car park (ensure it is across the road from main car park) via Badger Creel Road, Badger Weir Road before entering Yarra Ranges National Park.
Walking amongst a mature forest of mountain ash and manna gums, the Badger Weir picnic area with shelters, tables, toilets, and burbling waters running nearby is reached for morning tea break.
We follow the Coranderrk track to the weir which is the water catchment area for Healsville. From here a small bridge crosses over Badger/Coranderrk Creek to the Slip Track, then Lyrebird Track surrounded by lush green fern gullies.
We join the Coranderrk Track back to Badger Weir picnic area for lunch with rosellas and kookaburras. Retracing steps back to carpark.. There could be free/cheap homegrown produce along the road, so bring some cash just in case.
Some boardwalks, steps, up and down terrain are encountered - easy/medium walk approximately 13k.
Car pooling available from Eltham Little Theatre 8.15 for 8.30 departure. Cost will be $8.00 - If driving direct please park in the car park opposite the Santuary, Glen Eadie Avenue, Healesville by 9.30am for walk departure 9.45am
Bring morning tea, lunch, water, poles.
