Monda Track Yarra Ranges
The Monda Track follows the crest of the Great Dividing Range. We will utilise walking tracks, grassy firebreaks and management roads to ascend 540m over 7klms approx. amongst mountain ash forests, blackwood trees, silver wattle and ferns. The climb will be a combination of undulating tracks with some short steep sections, but so worth the effort to appreciate the stunning scenery.
We will have a well deserved enjoyable lunch break at the top of our climb and then commence the leisurley 7klm descent down the management roads back to the cars at the Narbethong Road House. Poles are highly recommended for support and stability whether it be dry or wet weather.
For those meeting at the start of the walk. Please be at the Dom Dom Saddle Picinic Ground Carpark around 8.45am for a 9am departure. PLEASE NOTE: The Dom Dom Saddle Picnic ground toilet block is permanently closed there was also a LARGE pot hole on the left as you enter the carpark from the Maroondah Highway. A car shuffle will be organised between the Dom Dom Saddle Car Park and the Narbethong Road House. The Car Pool Fee for your driver is $10.00.
Should you wish to use public toilets before the walk, you will find some at the Fernshaw Picinic Ground which is on your right before you climb up the Black Spur hill to the Dom Dom Saddle Picnic Ground.
This is a combined DVBC/ KOONUNG walk held by Kirsty Rae and Denise Young
