SUMMARY:Anakie Gorge Circuit
DESCRIPTION:This walk is in a delightful part of the Brisbane Ranges and so
 me wildflowers might be around. Length 13 km\, grade M. Leaving from the A
 nakie Gorge Picnic Ground\, it starts with an easy 1 km stretch up the Sto
 ny Creek\, then climbs sharply up to the gorge rim. Lookouts with views in
  various directions follow\, then it descends into the Stony Creek Picnic 
 Ground for lunch. After lunch\, we take a side trip to see the Lower Stony
  Creek Reservoir\, built in 1874. It is on the national engineering herita
 ge list for significant innovations in dam building. Returning to the lunc
 h stop\, the walk continues the last 3 km to the start. There are some sho
 rt steep sections going up and down and parts are rough and loose underfoo
 t. Poles recommended. Total climbing for the day\, about 300 m. There are 
 toilets at the carpark and the lunch stop. Carry adequate water\; there is
  none en route. This is a cinnamon fungus area and boot cleaing afterwards
  is recommended.
 Carpool drivers\, please meet at the Greensborough carp
 ark behind KFC. The drive from Greensborough is approx. 100 km and 1h 30 m
 . Cost $18. The Anakie carpark is at What Three Words cheapest/crusher/dec
 ree and we plan to commence the walk at 09:00.
