Byers Back Track to the Tunnel return
A return walk along an old water race to the Tunnel, a feature blasted through rock by gold miners that changed the course of the river for mining purposes. The walk is mostly flat and walking in single file. One steep hill to navigate down to the Lerderderg River of approx 200mtrs. Depending on weather, it will be decided on the day if we rock scramble up and over the Tunnel or walk the dry rocky riverbed to our lunch spot.
After lunch, we retrace our steps back to the cars. This a combined club walk with Koonung Bushwalking Club.
Bring morning tea, lunch, plenty of water and poles are recommended.
Please contact Marg for car pooling (thank you Marg).
