Cathedral Ranges Northern Circuit
Departing Cooks Mill Camp Ground we ascend through bush tracks, which inlcude some very steep sections, to have morning tea at the Farm Yard. We will then take the Ridge track towards Cathedral Peak for a well deserved lunch with spectacular views. This section is approximaltey 3.5klm of continuous rock hopping and scrambling, which requires concentration, a degree of confidence and stability. (Poles are not suitable in this stretch due to the terrain as all 4 limbs will be engaged in the traverse).
After a well deserved rest and lunch with magnificent views, we will then descend to Ned's Gully Camp Ground. The initial descent (700m) is very steep and poles are strongly recommended here, the second descent is around 2.2klm on dirt tracks littered with tree roots and rocks but very doable.
After a short afternoon tea break at Ned's Gully Camp Ground, it is then a leisurely peaceful walk through bushland back to Cooks Mill Camp Ground.
Although only 11.5klms, it is around 6 hours of walking time due to the steep climbs and terrain, but well worth the views and sense of achievement!
Bring your poles please, a warm top due to possible quick weather changes on the ridge and an afternoon tea snack.
