Mt St Leonard via Tanglefoot Track

A 14.00 k medium circuit walk located in the Toolangi State Forest Melway ref. X910 R11.

The walk starts at the Wirrawilla Rainforest Board Walk. The boardwalk is set amid a very beautiful rainforest under the canopy of myrtle beech, sassafras, blackwood and tree ferns. Lyrebirds, platypus and small birds are typically present.

Continuing on up the Tanglefoot Track the trail climbs to meet the Monda Track and then up to the summit of Mount St. Leonard. At 1027 mts this is the highest point in the area.

On a clear day the observation tower provides extensive views across the eastern areas of Melbourne.

The walk then descends steeply down for 500 mts before finally meeting with the Quarry Road track for the return to the start.

Bring walking poles (strongly recommended), morning tea, lunch and water.

It should be noted that weather conditions can change rapidly in the area and wet weather gear should also be considered.

Meet at the Eltham Little Theatre at 8.00 am for an 8.15 start.

Will be car pooling. Please indicate if you are prepared to drive.

The travel distance to the start of the walk is approx. 55 km.
