Anakie Gorge Circuit M 12 km

This walk is in a delightful part of the Brisbane Ranges and spring wildflowers should be around. Length 12 km, grade M.

Leaving from the Anakie Gorge Picnic Ground, it starts with an easy I km stretch up the Stony Creek, then climbs sharply up to the gorge rim. Lookouts with views in various directions follow, then it descends into the Stony Creek Picnic Ground for lunch. After lunch, we take a side trip to see the Lower Stony Creek Reservoir, built in 1874. It is on the national engineering heritage list to recognise it for significant innovations in dam building.

Returning to the lunch stop, the walk continues the last 3 km to the start.

There are some short steep sections going up and down and parts are rough and loose underfoot. Poles could be useful.

The drive from Eltham is approx. 115 km and 1h 35 m. Leader would appreciate a volunteer to organise carpooling.
