2 Gorges Walk - Ingleston & Ironbark Gorges

2 Gorges Walk - Ingleston & Ironbark Gorges

This is a 10km walk through 2 gorges. Starting at Ingleston Gorge we complete a 4km circuit through pretty bushland, with scenic views from a rocky escarpment before descending into the gorge where we follow a path next to and through a rocky dry riverbed, stopping at the end for morning tea before a short climb back up to the cars.  Now we drive approx. 1.5km back to the Ironbark Gorge Track carpark. We descend 90 big man-made steps down into the gorge and follow an interesting trail lined with impressive rock formations, some rock scrambling required, keep your eyes open for the twisty tree before the trail climbs up to Falcons Lookout for lunch with the best views in town.  If we’re lucky they’ll be rock climbers to watch as well.  We’ll take a quick walk around the bottom of the rock climbing walls to admire things from below before heading out to The Granites for a closer look at the river.  We’ll get an amazing perspective on just how massive The Island from the bottom, and we’ll see lots of granite formations before retracing our steps back to the cars.  Both walks are on good track’s but clay can be slippery when wet so if you use poles bring them, there are several mostly short sharp hills but nothing those used to medium grade walks can’t handle.
